Trade Unions

Discuss whether or not increasing the strength of trade unions will benefit an economy. [8] by Lashvini VG

There could be an increase in overall health and wellbeing of workers as firms could improve working conditions. This may reduce stress for workers and result in better health. Also, there may be a decrease in discrimination for workers as firms could increase job training in order to increase number of skilled workers.

However, firms may take too much time to make decisions as trade unions demand may be too difficult to be met with.

Whether or not increasing the strength of trade unions will benefit the economy or not depends on whether or not the workers will strike. If workers go on strike, this may delay production and cause a delay in output which would hinder economic growth.
